Rubio–Jaishankar meeting: Congress objects to announcement, MEA defends venue

US Ambassador Sergio Gor said Washington expected External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to meet Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Mumbai. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh criticised the way the meeting was announced.

The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed talks for October 20 and said India routinely hosts dignitaries outside Delhi, citing recent engagements in Goa, Kevadia and Amritsar.
