ఎన్నికల కమిషన్ సమీక్షలు ప్రారంభించడంతో ఐదు రాష్ట్రాలు 2027 ప్రారంభంలో ముందస్తు ఎన్నికలకు వెళ్తున్నాయి.

Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur are due to elect new Assemblies early next year, and the Election Commission has begun reviewing preparations in each of them.

Teams led by senior deputy election commissioners are visiting the five states. They have already reviewed Uttarakhand and are in Manipur, where the Assembly's term ends in March 2027. A visit to Punjab is scheduled for October 28, the Goa visit is being rescheduled, and the Uttar Pradesh visit has not been announced. The full Commission will visit before it announces the schedule.

A special summary revision of the electoral rolls is under way in all five states. In Uttar Pradesh, the chief electoral officer has held special voter registration camps in every district.

In the last cycle, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa voted on February 14, 2022, and Uttar Pradesh voted in seven phases. Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, the other two states due in 2027, will vote later.

Voters can check and correct their names on the roll through the Election Commission's voter portal or through their booth-level officer.
